Tom,
The 10 signifies the "cold" weight of the oil. As the engine warms up, the oil viscosity thickens to 30 weight. I doubt that the oil in the oil bath would thicken up to 30 weight unless the oil bath gets very warm.

(I knew those years at Valvoline were good for something!)

That might be the Military Vehicle Collectors of California-a state-wide group with several chapters. Not a predecessor of the MVPA that I'm aware of.

I went with Gammagoat taillights, even though they don't have the "cat eyes" for blackout drive because I need the additional brilliance of the lights that the stock lights don't provide. I also plan on using a detachable amber "whoopee light" when on the road.

I too, pulled my tranny last year but did not have a sling or hoist. My solution was to run a length of pipe horizontally from front of the cab to the back, attached chain as described in Charles' post, then used a good ratchet strap to apply tension between the pipe and tranny chain-just enough to ...

Not yet road-worthy and I'm getting those reactions when it's parked and I'm working on it. They run the gamut of "Nice jeep... (ugh), or "that's awesome!" or other comments-always very positive and it helps my motivation to get it on the road.

Wallace Wade in Dallas has the correct tubes cheap-don't risk your life over an incorrect set of tubes-get the right tubes that would cost under $60. I just got a set of four new tires, tubes and flaps from WW at a GREAT price. If I may- remember, Safety First! You can shortcut stuff like the incorr...

If my old Army memory serves me correctly, the 50 with triangle would be 50th Armored division, and the 1F258 would be 1st of the 258th Field Artillery....

Too high for my taste, although I prefer the shorter length as opposed to my Superwinch pair.... I also know that Tom has some nice guards for them.

Sorry for the delayed response, Rick. If you have the clutch access pan off, shine a light up to the back of the block around the end of the crank, ahead of the flywheel and clutch area-if you don't see any bolt heads you have the split-seal type. VPW gave me the scoop on these and there is no rhyme...

I've got too much blood, sweat, and tears ($) in mine to ever sell it-at least until I'm too old to keep it up, which hopefully won't happen for another 20 years or so.
