Post by M37DODGE »

Hello guys, how are you doing?

Regarding the mainteinance of my m37, it would be helpfull to have the lubrication chart, and all the things that can be done to the dodge in order to have it as better as possible.

Thank to all

Note, this info has been updated, Charles has all the modern lube info and maybe he will chime in.

I tried to find a way to just download it. Looks like you have to save the pictures to your desktop and then print them from there.

William, I don't know much about computers at all  , my wife Sandy is the brains of the family and she is not here so I can't help. What Lifer wrote is all I could figure out to do and thanks for posting that Chuck, I was off line most of yesterday working on putting a wood stove in the garage where I keep the M and didn't see Williams post.

Any clean engine oil will work, thicker oils will not slop around and possibly spill as readily as thinner ones. I have never had an actual spill however I have had thin oils migrate to the air cleaners exterior and coat everything nearby with a oil film, with higher viscosity came less of that to clean up.

Like Carter said, any clean engine oil will work. The original recommendation was straight SAE 30 non-detergent oil, which is still available and usually less expensive than the "better" grades.

The problem Carter mentioned about the oil film around the air cleaner is something you'll just have to live with. Thicker oils produce less film, but it will still accumulate. It will just take longer. Overfilling the air cleaner will make the problem worse. (Actually, I never considered it to be much of a problem. Oil coated parts do not rust. ;) )

It should work just fine. Just don't overfill it. :)

Look at the bottom of the page

Look at the bottom of the image. one of the buttons says to see this image at the original size. When you click that it comes up in it's own web browser window. Then wait and you will get a pop up to save it to your hard drive. do that. This works on Windows XP. Probably not on Windows 2000 and I don't know about Windows Vista. If you have a MAC I can't help you.

Tom,
The 10 signifies the "cold" weight of the oil. As the engine warms up, the oil viscosity thickens to 30 weight. I doubt that the oil in the oil bath would thicken up to 30 weight unless the oil bath gets very warm.

(I knew those years at Valvoline were good for something!)
