Looks highly likely that I will be over in Syria, VA, while you are over in Front Royal. Got to do some major trimming on one of the trails that we will be running on the Labor Day Trailrides/Rally (see the related thread about this). If you are feeling "froggy" after the gathering, convoy...

I passed the info on your rig to a buddy who lives in SC (retired Marine). Hopefully, the two of you can work out a deal.
That way, your rig will be closer to me and I'll be able to keep an eye on it for you... :)

Bill's right. Everyone will always think of it as yours...

Labor Day Trailride/Rally in Virginia

Folks, I have familly in Virginia that own a large resort/farm that backs up to the Shenendoah National Park. They have agreed to let me host a military vehicle trailride/rally/swapmeet on Labor Day Weekend. Info on this year's event may be found at the following link: http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/...

I am in spaces Yellow T9/U5 (same as last year).
David Doyle will be in space Yellow U6, located beside me..

I'll have an assortment of parts. Electrical, steering, body, etc.

I'm arriving on Thursday with the East Coast Convoy, leaving Sunday morning.

Running boards should be painted the same color as the body (in you case, Strata Blue). Not sure about the brake drums, most all of the ones that I have seen have either still been in red primer or had some body color paint on them (looked more like overspray...).

A true friend who will be greatly missed.... I have many found memories of talking MV's with him on the phone and in person, organizing the ECC with him, and chowing down at various resturants and cookouts... I will never forget his expression the first time we met, and I took him on a thirty mile r...

The chemistry is the same, but the propelent may have been incompatable (and they make running changes...).
Best thing is to always check on a test panel or inconspicuous location...

I've found that something name brand, moderately priced has worked well as long as the base paint is fully cured...

From our perspective, both Gillespie and Rust-Oleum are the same chemistry... There are differences that a chemist can tell, but not enough to make a difference when you spray...

Good luck.

Great Guntruck photos! It looks like I'll have to update the page on my website as you've got some here that I don't have in my collection... :) As far as the color of "stock" trucks, we've discussed it in some other threads concerning the differnces in shade (color) between the current FS...

wvcharlie, I'll be at the Mid-Atlantic rally with my Cummins powered M37. We'll have to go for a ride... I have a pair of running takeout T245 M37 engines in the backyard already sitting in a M101A1 trailer that I can hitch up to the M37 for the ride up to the rally in case you want to go back stock.

Another reason for swapping out the transmission is the difficulty in bolting up the stock transmission to a different engine. The input shaft lenght, diameter, and spline style and count as well as the diameter of the bearing retainer and the bolt pattern are different from those used on a modern D...
