Re: Insurance question
I have normal unrestricted coverage on my M-37.
Safeco. $211 per year. 100k/300k/100k + un and under + theft.
In Phx
If figures that the military insurance company won't cover military vehicles.

Re: Grandpa’s M37
Try 3rd gear in low range.
And I never worry about temps. Driving home from work today at 114F it never got above 190F in traffic.

GL4 straight 90wt
FYI:
Shopper's Supply is now stocking 2 gallon jugs of GL4 90wt.
The house brand is Harvest King. $30 a jug. The last time I bought it I paid $130 for a 5 gallon pail.
This is way more economical.

Re: AB15 Antenna with CB Radio
Yeah, just winding wire around a form is harder to do than it would seem on the surface. Following instructions from someone who did the hard work is a great option. Base loading, center loading and tip loading all have their own pluses and minuses. If I was to try and use the AB base for CB, I thin...

Re: AB15 Antenna with CB Radio
Although it requires some knowledge and external gear to use initially, something like this will match the antenna to the radio. Set it up for the channel you will run and don't touch it again.

Re: 5 Fuel Filters are not necessary!
The factory put the spin on sediment bowl/cartridge filter on the regulator mount bracket. They eliminated it in the 53 production run, I believe.

Re: M37 Horn Button
I had to perform surgery on an aftermarket one. It had the problem you have. Then I found a new old stock one from that fellow in Texas. It worked fine but the rubber button was short lived.

Re: Original Brake Lines With Funk ??
Brakes are overrated and only marginally necessary.
But if you don't agree, you should probably replace all the lines.

Re: Crush Washers for F&R Axles, Transmission, Transfer Case
My Ace Hardware has them. Any auto supply will have them. I anneal them at each oil change until they are too deformed. Then use a new one.

Re: Leaking antifreeze
Tighten all the hose clamps first. That's the usual culprit.
If it still leaks, then clean it thoroughly and dry it.
Spray it with a talc powder
The leak will be obvious very quickly.
(Head bolts, t-stat, bypass housing, water pump, etc.)

Happy isn't the term for today.
The size limitations prevent any pictures from today's observation of General Order 11. We had 20+ vehicles from MB's to Hemtt's. Even a Gamma Goat.

Re: AB15 Antenna with CB Radio
It will actually need to be longer. Not shorter. The AB-15 as used in our trucks is 6m or 50Mhz. CB is 11m or 27Mhz. A 1/4 wave for CB is 102" long. In general, you will need to be resonant in order to appear as a 50ohm impedence to your radio and keep your VSWR below 2.5:1. You can run just ab...

Re: Trailering with Uhaul
7500 GVWR is not enough. You will be on the ragged edge. (The weight of the trailer has to be added to the truck weight.) I reengineered my trailer to 12,000 GVWR to have the cushion. The trailer running gear was really straining until I upped the wheels, axles, springs and coupler. And redoing it w...
