Tailgate FS
Located near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Hi guys, I have an extra tailgate I would like to pass on to someone who can use it. It is a little battered and could use some tlc but is otherwise whole. Has a pioneer rack and one hinge. I would be happy to sell it, say $200 or trade for a set of winch bumpers...

Re: My 1952 Dodge M37 re-building process
Hi Sebastian, I had the exact problem with my truck’s blackout lights as well. If you pop the door off, you will find you can gently pry back the folded sheet metal that holds the lens in, and then it all comes out. There’s a gasket, a mask to create the little Y shapes, and the lens, which in my ca...

Re: Cold Weather Priming Pump
That's true that it would no longer be necessary with the electric pump. I do like the odd bits of tech that these trucks came with though, so if it is functional then I would like to keep it. I guess the way to know for sure is to take a line off the manifold and prime the pump. If it leaks, I'll h...

Cold Weather Priming Pump
Hi guys, my truck has the cold weather primer on the dash, which basically dumps raw fuel into the intake to help start the truck. It’s handy for starting the truck in cold weather, or after it sits for a length of time, but I’m wondering if it is going to be a problem now that I am adding an electr...

Re: Blue Crown water proof spark plugs
Interesting, I have never heard of them. What made you ask about them? When I first saw your question I immediately thought it must be some offshore brand, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.
They have an interesting look to them. Too bad you wouldn’t see much with modern plug wires over them.

Re: serial numbers...
You’re probably right about the FGH being Fort Garry horse, at least it fits the story. For the frame number... It should be there, but sometimes the stampings aren’t easily seen. I’ll see about getting you a picture of the location of mine so you know where to look. The Michelin’s are nice tires. I...

Also, you may have seen this already, but this is another example of a truck similar to yours. In this case, it was a M43CDN loaned us the USAF in BC.

Re: serial numbers...
Hi, and welcome! Its a little tricky finding any history on Canadian trucks of this vintage... from what I understand, the government dumped the records of all the vehicles from say.. pre1960. So that pretty much leaves it up to whatever you can find on the truck in the form of markings under the pa...

Re: Need Clutch 101
I’m not familiar with the M715 but I think the drivetrain is pretty similar.., so here’s my thinking: 1) the clutch isn’t fully engaging when you let up on the pedal. There should be some free play when the pedal is all the way out. That is to say, you can push the pedal in an inch or so before you ...

Always nice when you find less rust than expected! I had the same issue with rot on the frame, especially the crossmember that runs between the rear spring hangars. Apparently an inviting spot for mice.
Looking forward to pics!

Re: crummy idle
In my experience, debris from fuel lines etc tends to jam the needle open and cause severe flooding. I wonder from your description if maybe you didn’t bump your distributor when you were working under the hood, and now your advance is off. Usually a starving engine will idle, and then hiccups and b...
