Two batteries, one dead cell, still start?

Anyone have information on an M37 24 volt system (two batteries one of them having a dead cell) starting ok?

No, You will only have 22 volts at best and probably less. You need 24 volts. If it is still starting then you do not have a dead cell, you probably have a weak cell. With modern batteries you can pretty much guarantee that that battery is never going to come back and be a dependable battery. And when you replace it replace both, always replace both as a pair so you have two fresh batteries and that way you will get an equal charge in both.
