Serial number to USAF registration number

Any help tracking down a USAF Registration number from just a serial number on my R-2 Rescue truck? I know the Army had numbers on the hood of M-37's, but USAF put Yr model, and number on the doors of most trucks/vehicles starting in the 50's.
