Winch Gaskets
Can any one tell me if any of the gaskets for a LU4 Winch should have a sealant applied to them?
Re: Winch Gaskets
I used Loctite 518 and spray Permatex Copper Spray-a-Gasket along with Loctite 242 or 271 on all the fasteners.

I always use the permatex form a gasket type 3 aviation (the brown stuff that gets on everything ).
Probably overkill but I have never had it fail.

Re: Winch Gaskets
I started using the 'Right Stuff' sealer and really like it. So far after my winch rebuild no leaks. Fingers crossed.

"The Right Stuff" works great, until you have to remove it. We had a 230 with an oil pan that was glued on with the stuff and we could lift the engine with the pan and no hardware in it!!!!! It was a bear to get the pan off and a real bear to remove the sealant/adhesive. If you want to ensure no leaks it works really well, but beware on the next tear down !
