I was looking at a NOS starter, still sealed in the box. I was told it comes with the starter switch, which I assume is the entire mechanical switch assembly on the floor?
Can anyone confirm this?

To the best of my experience, a new starter should have the contact switch assembly (which is mounted to the starter housing) along with the actuator lever that energizes the switch and drive. The actuator plunger rod and spring which mounts through the cab firewall is not part of the starter

I guess the next question is: is $125 a good price?
I had already bought a generator ($70), swivel pintle ($50!), and a NOS front drive shaft with yoke ($75?) so I walked away from the starter....

$125 is a great price for an NOS unit if it is indeed that. There are some units out there that are rebuilds that are being passed off as NOS, you can't tell the difference if you don't know what you are looking for. Distributors are being done the same way by some. To be honest, $125 sounds a little cheap for a genuine NOS, so I'd check it out thoroughly before purchase.refit1701 wrote:I guess the next question is: is $125 a good price?

This starter was in the box, sealed in a white bag. The code numbers were stamped on the outside. The bad wasn't plastic like you'd find today, but almost a burlap vinyl or something. It looked like the real thing.

Starter Switches
I'd contact Sid Beck. When I replaced my starter switch he had some. Of course that was about two years ago, so he may be out, but its worth a try anyway.
