Speedometer screw

Post by m15256 »

I have the instrument cluster out to put on a new 5 wire spider and clean the years of gunk off the light lenses.

On the back of the speedometer is a slotted screw head that is sort of knurled. It points directly at the input bushing. Is it an adjustment of some kind or a small lubrication port cover?

Thanks, Rick

I think it is a little wick that you put oil on.

billy,
Thanks very much. After sitting on the shed step staring at it long enough I had finally arrived at the same conclusion. The drive was very dry and almost stuck in place. The speedo cable broke years ago and since the last owner (the one who bought it at Military auction) used it on a tree farm no one ever bothered with a speedo.

Yep
It is a little wick.
I put some penetrating oil on it
