Don't F with me!!!

Post by Josh »

When Im done, they're going to regret not letting me return the rims. The internet is a VERY powerful tool... I get my jollies off on this kind of stuff...

I sent them an email entitled "thanks for the great service" with links to the different forums, and the BBB and Ebay complaints...

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

I hope you can some kind of refund. People like this tire dealer should be out of buisness. What a rippoff. Was Ebay or your credit card company any help?

The door left open or what

Don't mean to ruffle your feathers here, but you really can't blame these folks for return refusal since tires had been mounted. You wouldn't believe the stuff we see here caused by tire installers damage. I agree these folks shouldn't tell you they will fit unless they know without doubt that they will. I also agree with them that you should have checked the rim fit before installing tires, especially if you knew there possibly could be a fit issue. Personally I think you have made a costly mistake, learn from it. On another note, you have also learned a lesson about buying on e-bay, it's the PERFECT place for less than straight up sellers to take advantage of buyers. Looking at the big picture of your situation, I'm sorry to say it, but the way you did this left the door open, you put your own self in this situation & I can't see where you have a legal leg to stand on at all.

No real way to tell if this seller put the screws to you intentionally. He may be honest in his intentions, most likely he looked at literature that said it fits a certain application & assumed its accuracy. You know these days nobody knows anything unless it jumps from a computer screen & it may or may not be correct. Situations like this is why I don't deal on ebay. We buy from sources where we have someone to back up on, it saves much frustration.

I came to find out he screwed a fellow S4 owner about 5 months ago. He knew they wouldn't fit.

Not pointing straight at you, it's an in general comment as I've known of MANY unhappy ebay purchases. It's a fact, ebay is a haven for dishonest sellers, why? Simply because buyers keep on keeping on. If buyers would only open their eyes & realize how bad they could get burned just as you now have. The door is open, buyers could deal with a seller where they can go & see what they are buying. Do you not agree your situation would be easier to handle in that way? If you had made a local purchase of your rims, most likely you could have had your tires mounted on the rims & installed on your car right at the sellers business. If they don't fit, now the seller doesn't have a leg to stand on, you may be disappointed, but you aren't stuck with rims that don't fit & $$$ aren't lost.

I grew up with the teaching that a man is as good as his word & what goes around comes around. I still run my business based on those principles. Being in today's business world I've learned that business owners like me are becoming few & far between. I hate to see that for many reasons, but it is fact. We've been stuck by buyers who destroyed components & then wanted to send it back. It's a viscious cycle that works both ways. No wonder so many follow the Golden Rule of today, "do it to them before they do it to you."

We deal with all kinds of vehicle parts and typcially our policy on fitment parts - like tires, glass, engine parts, etc. - is that they can only be returned for factory defects/workmanship. Meaning, beware before you install them. Once they've been installed, the part is no longer resaleable or returnable. We see alot of shady activity specifically in the tires and wheels area because the distributors are all trying to turn the inventory because they are a larger, more expensive part that takes up alot of room and they are also a fashion whim - quickly turn from what's hot to what's not. Sorry for your issue, but its pretty standard on "installed" parts.
