Steering shaft
Finally got the right puller and popped steering wheel off. I removed the outer column but am having trouble removing inner shaft. Don't see any bolts or pins where shaft goes into box. Is there a trick ???
Re: Steering shaft
the shaft comes out of the bottom of the box, first the sector shaft needs to be removed then the worm gear and shaft will slide out the bottom.

Re: Steering shaft
Wow, didn't see that one coming. Thanks so much for the info and pix.
Re: Steering shaft
if I was pulling a box apart I would get a new sector shaft(8) and bushing(9)or rethink pulling it apart.

Re: Steering shaft
Taking box out to install power steering box from Snake River. Anybody on here want a stock steering box? Free, just pay shipping.
Re: Steering shaft
Hi Bill is the steering box offer still on ? I am looking to rebuild mine and it would be nice to have one to build up then just remove and replace the other.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Steering shaft
Yeah, the box is still available for free. However I did take it apart to get the steering shaft out thru the bottom of box. Hence it has no steering shaft worm gear inside so its not a direct bolt on. Sorry. But its still available.
