So far all's well Gary, heavy rain and 20 to 30 MPH wind and we still have electricity, worst of the high wind due here tonight thru tomorrow. We have the generator, lots of gas, batteries, propane lamps, food and the other needed item, TP is in good supply. :D

I second the warning, keep your heads down guys, when Mother Nature dishes out some fury you simply have to be prepared.
I might even rock up at Carters place, I am as far from the storm as you can get but it sure sounds like the place to be... 8)

Its the Calm before the storm here in Brooklyn. Not to much rain wind is starting to pick up. Like Carter said later on today the fun starts..

Work closing at noon for the next 2 days, Interstates and limited access roads shut down at 1pm. Storm continues to intensify and morph into a hybrid, and I'm not talking a Prius!

My wife works for the US Arny and it was announced this morning the base was closed, don't ever remember them doing that before, usually it remains open when the weather is bad and civ. workers have to take a leave day but not this time, she is home making/baking an apple pie. :D :D :D

You and family are welcome here anytime Tony, I am always prepared, loads of food, plenty of drinks, even have a shed full of firewood in the event it gets cold and snows as predicted and four empty bedrooms.

Ferries are canceled. Airport is closed. Low lying roads along the beach are flooded/closed. One road still open to the back side of the hospital. Wind 40's gusts 60+ and building. Scattered power outages. Job site stand by generator came on for an hour or so. Job site trailer is starting to wobble around a little. I have an F250 4WD, a chainsaw, chain, and 50 feet of 1" braided tow hawser, to push or pull stuff out of my way to get home. No rain and the guys are working inside on trim work. Just have to remember to drag a propane bottle home for the grill. It's all good as long as this trailer doesn't blow over.

BAD NEWS- HMS BOUNTY sank off of Cape Hatteras this morning. Two crew missing. Fourteen rescued by Coast Guard helicopters.

Here in the Akron, Ohio area we have rain and and sustained winds all night of 50-70mph. I am surprised the power stayed on. Not as bad as the immediate east coast. My prayers are with those folks out there.

Well here in central VA, we basically "Dodge"d the bullet, lots of rain, wind to 45-60 mph, all bad, but not devastating! We braced for no power, and never lost it! All of the saws were tuned and ready, no trees down.
My son was a little let down, he was looking forward to making some saw-dust.
I hope everyone is safe now!

I'm back, no computer service provider yesterday and today until about 15min. ago. No elec. but the generator ran fine for 24 hrs with out a hickup. Glad I had lots of gas on hand, it drank 21 gal's in that time. No wind damage which is amazing because it blew up to 65mph, just lots of leaves plastered to everything, car/truck/house look camo'd. We got a little water in the basement but nothing like the flooded NYC subway system. :D

We lucked out.The only damage was to my old CB antenna it was bent and I lost some shingle on the garage roof. The sub-pump took care of water that started to come up in the basement. Luckily we didn't loose power, lights flickered but they stayed on. Other areas around us still don't have electricity. Some trees are down. Gas stations that have electricity are out of gasoline so that's going to be a problem. I hope 8543bob and Wayne64 are ok. Bob's area lost 111 houses due to fire and Wayne is on Long Island...

Did fine here. Power stayed on and only leaves and branches down. Coast got hit hard though.
