Facebook......Bleh!!

Post by Monkey Man »

I have just disabled my Facebook account, the complete BS on there finally got to me, just can't stand it anymore (Fellow MV'ers on my list are NOT included in the list of dipsh**s I refer to). I can always be contacted on my E-Mail, ICQ and Yahoo ID's listed here.........assuming anyone wants to talk to me???

I do not do Facebook either. I am so sick and tired of people asking me "Are you on FB"? Then they go "Oh.." and look at me like I have no right to live or I am some psi epsilon moron because I am not on facebook :x The whole Facebook concept along with all this hand held technology is too Orwellian for me. In a way I find the internet creepy. What's next? The Borg Collective? Implants so we can be like the folks in the Matrix? NO thanks. Let alone all of the microwave radiation flowing throught the air to run all those things.
Growing up on Irwin Allen Sci-Fi and Star Trek I thought I would welcome this technology, not so. I also find it creepy that this technology just suddenly appears? In the old days you always saw or read about developments "RCA is working on a radio you may one day be able to hold in your hand..." ect. Now this stuff is instantly there...I find that odd. Check out the 3D polymer printers/replicators on youtube, now thats creepy...
Sorry gang, but if thre one day is a big flash and we suddenly go back to 1946 technology, I'd be one happy fellow. My two cents

We ended up finding out about my 40th hs reunion, in 2009. Steele Soldiers has its own page. Quite a few Power Wagon folks are there too. What I'm saying is, it's what you make of it. I think tony must have had a bad run-in with something or someone? You are the computer "IT" Guy, right Tony?

No, not a run-in Bruce, just sick of mindless blabber and from an IT point of view, be VERY wary of things on facebook, Twitter and even older programs like ICQ (which I do still use) as hackers, spammers, data harvesters and scammers are getting more clever, like pickpockets they can take your data without you even feeling a thing....

Best Regards - MM :-)

I know I'm a little late to the party on this one but, I heartily concur. I have never had a facebook account and never will.
I find the mentality behind it idiotic. I have the same opinion of Twitter and all the other pathetic machinations of pop culture. I don't want to know the minute by minute details of anyone's bloody life.
I think I'll start an Anti-social network that nobody can join.

I tried facebook for a total of two days! I had never got so much "spam" in all my computer days! What a monumental waste of time!
