Cab dolly plans

Post by Gerry »

Anyone have any plans for a cab dolly? Or at least a picture of what they have made.
Thanks,
Gerry

No pics but I took 3 4x4s and cut one in half, used the 2 short peices as the underside ends, lag-bolted them together and used 4 casters. Very cheap and very functional.

Gee! You mean you don't need AutoCad to design a cab dolly? What will they think of next?

Thanks for the idea, I was hoping to make a tilting steel one. Mainly because I need to practice welding before I start to weld on my M.

Do you mean a "dolly" out of a a (pair) of engine stands? Like Murf did, I did the same. Also made one for my 230 flat head.

Sounds like he wants more of a "rotisserie" system.

That's what I was thinking. All he'll need are a pair of rotating engine stands and some square tubing.

Matt
Was wondering if you had a picture of the engine stand set up?
Thanks

You mean the "thing" I move my 230 around on? I'm affraid I do not have a picture of it. All it is is a dolly built out of 4X4s (maybe 4X6-I'll have to look again) 3/4" plywood and castors. I have eye hooks running along the sides that I use with ratchet straps to keep everything secure. I also have some 2X4 cribbing underneith the engine so it rides upright.

If you'd like, PM me a mailing address and I'll send you a diagram & materials list of what it is I built.

Thanks,
ended up just using wood. The price of steel (even scrap) made using wood look very nice.

Glad you found what you needed (or a reasonable substitute).

I've always found, though, that there's no shortage of "cab Dollies" hanging around the truck stop parking lots. Some of the cruder guys call 'em "lot lizards." ;)
