M37 Markings

Post by SydneyM37 »

I would like to add unit marking to my M37, but being in Australia, i have no idea what unit is relevant.

I'm basically after a unit from Alaska region, since my truck has the full Arctic kit installed.

Once i establish the unit and markings i plan to approach Rick Larson for them to be posted to me.
Anticipating Ricks questions to me on unit signage can anyone assist me ?

My friend Jerry Park served in Alaska durring 1960-61 while in the Army at Ft.Greely (he was in the Signal Corp as a weather observer in support of the Continental Army Command artic test activity) and has sent me several photos of the M37 that he drove that are on my website...

You can see the unit markings on the trucks quite well if you click on the photos and view them full size...

See:

As a thumbnail posted here, you can't see much...

I have a coworker who's dad flew Navy PBY's out of the Aleutian Islands if you wanted to do something completely different... :)

Rick Larsen also may have an idea of what would be appropriate as well. He does enough stencils to have a pretty good database of units/markings...

Good luck.
