Well I tried finding a thread on USAF trucks and I would have added the pics to that thread. But since we are headlong into finnishing the ole girl after 13+ years, maybe I will keep posting them here.
We took her out of the garage for some sun. I installed the axle shafts today and filled the rear with gear oil. We ran it and after my wiring, she indicates temps and sits just below 180, oil press indicates over 30 psi at idle and she CHARGES at the white arc!!!!!!. I got it in gear and I had thought my pressure plate was stuck but she went in and moved so I ran it around the yard and she even STOPS!!!!!! Who knows, we might have her done this year!!!

Was not the first drive but it was with Brakes, oil pressure and temp indications, generating power to the batteries and not running a jumper to the distributor to make it run and in 2 wheel drive.............Did I mention it stops????

It sure is looking good. You should be proud of your work. There is nothing like firing her up and seeing those gages come to life for the first time.

I am not versed in all the different versions of these trucks. Is there an original red/olive green pattern for an explosive transport truck, or is that a unique paint scheme? It sure looks good either way
All the services occasionally ID'd their EOD vehicles with loud colors. Some on the bumpers, or some on the windshield or even on the fenders. I seem to recall seeing a red fendered unit pictured somewhere else on this web site.
Hey how about a picture of the mystery shocks side by side so the people can see them ??? Jeff I will be at the show but I am busy doing new garage doors and have not had anytime for dumpy so once again you will not see her at the show anyways. Maybe we can convince george to get his out ???
It was up to local unit SOP on how to mark special purpose vehicles like EOD. I seen pictures of a Engineer Company in Germany that all the bumpers on every vehicle was painted in yellow and black stripes across the front of them. Crains down to jeeps. It what ever the CO wanted is what the CO got.

This has been the best answer yet. My dad was EOD and all of their trucks were marked this way so thats what were doing. Like I said, dad really wanted the Strata Blue but I wanted to keep it army so thats what we have come up with. Who knows, maybe we will do a MFG repaint as the M37 was painted OD until the USAF order came down and then were painted on the line. This is pretty evident as I have seen alot of OD under that strata blue.

I will do that the next time I am down there which will be monday and tuesday next week for some bed painting.
AWWW on taking "dumpy" out to play. Any chance you can bring those clutch linkage parts. Ours is out of adjustment and I got a sneaky feeling that its because of the homemade rod is too long.

I know about dumpy. Right now I am concentrating on the new doors and fixing up the garage. You know how winters are up here. I got tired of a 12 x 14 barn style door with no insulation and having to shovel out from in front of it to plow snow that was a joke !! best money I have spent. Dumpy will make a showing before leaves turn I promise just not lots of time this year so far. I will find the linkage parts and pull them and bring them. what parts do you need exactly ? just the stock parts from the pedal to the throwout lever ? I will probably pull it off the air force truck you got the shocks off of.
