Sanding in the rain, just sanding in the rain

Post by HingsingM37 »

Decided to do some prep work this weekend. Parked the truck outside in the sun then later it began to rain. I figured I planned on wet sanding so I saved some water by utilizing the downpour. Using the rain water instead of water pumped by electricity would have made Al Gore proud :P . Plus the toxic run off will be filtered by my gravel driveway much to the chagrin of enviro-weenies everywhere

And environmentally sound, good combo David. Your paint is the Sherwin-Williams, right?

Bruce,

Yes, the paint is Krylon Industrial Enamel. It was color matched by their "Color on Demand" which is part of the SW industrial/Krylon end. I shot some with the activator on the rear fender well and running boards this weekend:

So far I like.

Josh, thanks. I am a fan of your work as well. How close are you to test firing that beast?

hey David,
Your right about Josh, that is going to a mean little rig when he's finished. Back to the Krylon, I don't mind it, my rig was little on the shiny side, she's been sitting almost fallow since October, and it's flattened out some, but not much.
I am almost to the point where I'm going to add some petrol to my virgin gas tank, already relocated my battery, out of the cab, this week is it!

not to hijack, but, almost have the fuel system finished, then it is on to the cooling system, then electrical, and exhaust. Maybe a month-month and a half to go. it's close, I can smell it!

Paint date set

Post by HingsingM37 »

Well group, I never though I would get to this point but next Saturday May 8th, I am painting the rig. My friend John who owns a body shop will be coaching to insure a run free job. :D

David - been watching from a distance... the pride in painting is a result of your prep. Looks great and keep all of us posted. Hope for some warm May weather!! Keith
