Winch problems

Post by mattveeder »

I have a 52 M37 winch model. Just today I was on a friends farm with ny M37. In the nice weather I decided to take it into the woods, which is not something that I would do with it normaly. While I was out in the woods I got stuck, never needing my winch I must say it was seemingly fun ot me. So I attached it to a great anchor point, left it in neutral and started winching. After getting the tough part done the winch quit working. The problem is that the pto drive shaft spins fine but the winch does not try to spin at all. Almost like it is not in gear at all. I can twist the drum 30 degrees forward and 30 degrees backward just like usual. But there seems to be something obviously wrong here. Would anyone know what I need to order ontop of gaskets and seals and such os I can get this repaired in a timely manner? Mbay which gears broke if any. We all know what I need after taking it apart. Since this will be my first I was just looking for help. Thanks

Sounds like you broke a shear pin. VPW usually has replacements, do NOT use a bolt in place of the shear pin!
