Want list

I got to start on a want list for the M37. I would like to finnish this by spring. Ive had it apart WAY to long.

#1 right now is the bracket that holds the Ignition suppressor to the cab. Somewhere in the garage I have one all ready to go but I'll be dammed that its in the black hole that some parts have fallen into.

Anyone got one??? Trying to get the electrical system finnished.

Hey ed,
If you open the hood, look at the horn then down to the firewall. It will be just to the left of the engine head. A little black box is usually attached to it. Its the spark supressor and was only used on the early 37s. I have hollowed mine out so its not working as they tend to crap out and leave you stranded. I just need to find the mount so I can install it and run my wiring.

I believe that is exactly the same box used on the very early M38's. So you may want to post a want Ad on their web sites as well.

There were a couple used interchangeable

Thanks but I got the box............I need the bracket that it mounts to that bolts to the firewall for the M37.

The bracket is usually spot welded to the box. You will be better off to do away with it altogether, your engine will perform better, it serves no purpose unless radio noise suppression is an issue to you. Later trucks have the capacitor inside the distributor, thus it is certainly not incorrect not to have the box mounted on the fire wall. Almost all the early trucks were retrofitted with the later distributor before leaving military service. It is fairly rare to see one still in place.

Right the bracket is spotwelded to the box BUT there is another bracket that is at the firewall that the suppressor assy mounts to on the M37. Mine still had it installed when I took it apart. Yes I now about its problems, thats why I hollowed it out and ran a wire from pin to pin so it looks like its installed but serves no purpose but look from the factory in 1951.

It would help to have a photo of the bracket it self. There just might be someone with one laying in a parts box that can help you but he doesn't know what one looks like.

I have the correct mounting bracket in stock. It does require a separate bracket to mount this filter to the firewall on a Dodge.
