Dismantling my '52 I noticed that the right (passenger) front rail seems to be bent. I'll try to post pictures a little later but the right front spring mount rivets have been replaced with bolts and the spring hanger itself is blue with the rest of the truck OD. Somewhere along the line it must have been in a front end collision, possibly only the right side. It appears to be 1"-2" off line eyeballing it. Does anyone have any pictures looking down the frame rails from the front to compare to? What about dimensions of the frame so I can check with a tape. What advice - straighten? Won't notice so don't bother?
I'm removing the 318 and dropping the stock 6 back in and one front mount and one rear mount, on opposite sides have been removed so I think I may need to line up before I replace. Thoughts? Pictures required?
I brought the frame to a frame shop and quick diamond checking indicates it's off by 1/2" per side in the middle and 1/4" per side in the front. He identified the places where welds were made after straightening at the motor pool and suggested even if he did work on it, first flex on a trail and it would likely pop back to where it presently is. So the prognosis is to use it as is.
