Re: My 1952 Dodge M37 re-building process
Well, the M37 engine was designed to run OK on 68 octane gas.
Low compression was necessary so as to not knock, even on rotgut gas.
Most of us mill the head enough to get it up to maybe 8:1 or so, with modern gas. Sure will have more pep...

Your cab is missing the two 7/16" fine nuts in the location of your bracket.
Maybe lost in the bodywork restoration?
Feel around inside the body and see it they are there, just filled in with Bondo.

Re: My 1952 Dodge M37 re-building process
The original M37 radiator has two, deep cores. This is the same thickness as a regular 4-core radiator. The top tank overhangs the core in front, by some 3 inches. The tank takes a mil-standard cap, 4 to 7 lb rating. Both outlets are cast iron, riveted then soldered in. I hope this helps. Too bad yo...

Just curious why you need a recovery system? The truck was engineered without one to handle any hot, desert climate on earth.

Keep in mind the ETW-1 has a unique air cleaner system that also supports the sealed distributor airflow.

Mosey over to Steelsoldiers.com and dig up the free downloads of all the G741 series truck tech manuals.
The 10-, 20-, and 30- series TM's have illustrations of all the areas of the vehicles.
Flog your printer and learn more about your truck.

Re: Rear Canvas Flapping
I have all the rear canvas made with Herculite, not cotton duck.
In our climate, one is lucky if canvas lasts a year.
Otherwise a whole lot of flappin' going on.

The axe & pick are the same.
I've seen two different length military pioneer shovels.
The shorter of the two fit M37 racks, I'll have to measure one and report.

Re: My 1952 Dodge M37 re-building process
Be aware not all ETW1 rebuild kits are alike.
I have seen where a kit sold as compatible is missing several important parts, especially the accelerator pump vacuum piston parts.
Other than that, the ETW1 is as good a carb as one might want on the older flatheads.

Unbalanced charging happens and ruins them.
Because eventually you'll wind up with one 22 volt battery, and another 2 volt one.
