windshield and hinge configuration

I have my windshield frame cleaned up and painted. I have two new glasses and hinges. When I got my truck it didn't have the glass or the hinges on it. So, could someone send me a pic of the hinge installed, and do you put the glass in the hinge before you install it to the frame- or do you slide the glass into the hinge after you install it to the frame. Do you lubricate the hinge? Thanks for any help,

I don't have a picture but know from experience trying to put the little bolts that hold the hinge to the outer frame was really hard with the heavy window glass in it's frame. I gave up and did what the manual says:

This is to remove, to install would be the reverse -

1) Remove the windshield wiper motor.

2) fully open the windshield by taking loose the adjusting arms from the frame.

3) Spread the outer end of the windshield upper hinge with a screwdriver and slide the windshield frame off/out of the hinge. Slide the new window with metal frame into the hinge. Then bend the outer end of the hinge to close it.

Thanks, I figured as much, it would be a big hassle to install the screws with the glass on the hinge. Now how about greasing the hinge-yes or no?
Again, I appreciate the help,

I didn't think about greasing them. My only concern would be when it gets really hot will the grease get like liquid and run down on the glass?

the fellow from whom I bought my truck from four years ago cautioned me about driving with the windshields propped open, because a passing truck's wind blast slammed one shut, shattering the glass. So... I don't drive with mine propped open. I did replace one delaminated and scratched one a year ago, seems they are double the cost now from what I paid for mine then. Bent the outer tab back, pulled out the old frame/glass, then used a long rifle leaning rod with a brass brush to de-rust and clean my channel, oiled the parts, slid the new one in, and bent the retaining tab back. I flipped the rubber seal on the frame for a better but not perfect seal.

My wipers work, but I am rarley out in rain, so use RainEX on my windshield.

I’ll second the graphite powder. It works wonders and you don’t have to worry about overflow or leaks.

I wonder how many times the top of the hinge can be opened and closed?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the top of the hinge". The only thing I have bent is the small tab on the outboard end, that holds the windshield part of the "hinge" in. I just slid my old one out, and the new windshield with hinge in, and bent the tab back. if it breaks off, with the inner side hinges, it won't come off. hal

Just push the vent up all the way after opening the windshield, and let it rest against the front of the vent.

Can't slam shut that way. Dodge thought of everything.
