I know this gets brought up every couple of years or so, but which Electronic fuel pump is known as "good" these days?
The old threads I've looked at seem to use part numbers that are no longer relevant.

I understand the base stats I'm looking for: 24V, 4-5 PSI, Marine (water-going, not Grunt) performance

However, as you can imagine, this pulls up a lot of hits in google.

My basic problem I'm trying to overcome right now is vapor lock. When the outside temperature hits about 85 degrees I'm ok to drive, but whereever I'm going I have to be there for about 30 minutes before things cool down enough to let me start back up again. Truck runs great other than the vapor lock.

I'm using an aftermarket mechanical pump (sold by VPW) because when VPW originally sold this to the PO in the 90's they took out the old military pump and installed electric wipers.

Help and comments are appreciated.

Pegasusus Auto racing has a selection of genuine Facet pumps, I have one of the cylindrical ones, easy to clean the filter from below, pumps 4-5 psi, I will later post a pic of how I have mine plumbed.

32 GPH at free flow but only 15 GPH at 1.5 psi. Fuel flow is cut in half with only 1.5 lbs. of pressure added! I am thinking that by the time you get to the 5 lbs. you need the fuel flow will be so small you will be running out of gas at anything above idle.

This is what I am using. A rotary vane pump will move a LOT more fuel at a consistent pressure.

Ok, I can't argue with experience but the P/N he is looking at has 1/8" fittings, He definitely need the other 24 volt pump listed if he goes with the Facet. That looks like the same pump used on the MEP series gensets. Good Lord they are noisy!!!!!

Hit the spec section. The first 24V one listed is 1/8", second 24V is 1/4"

Good catch on the 1/8 threads. Definitely want to avoid that.

It looks like I want the 480564E with 1/4 threads, 24V from Facet.

Also, "loud" being a comment...louder than the engine? Or the whine of the transmission as I cruise along?

My pump is located just in front of the fuel tank and the only time
I can hear it is when I turn on the ignition to start the engine.
Rick, how can you hear that pump when the gen set is running???
I don't operate my MEP-003A without muffs because of the exhaust and engine noise.

What? Can't hear you??? LOL.

I run Facet pumps on all of the G749 duces and never had a problem yet. I do plumb in a Holly fuel pressure regulator after the pump to drop the psi.

Final (next?) question: How does this all wire together? Where am I hooking in the power? At the battery with a paddle switch or at the ignition?

First you have to mount the pump as close to the tank as possible.
These pumps are "pushers" not "suckers". Meaning they do better pushing the fuel to the carb rather than pulling to the carb.
You need to tap off the ignition switch with one of these: FEMALE PACKARD "Y" CONNECTOR FOR SPLICING MS27147-1
Remove the lead to the distributor, inset a double male lead into the ignition switch and the other end into the one Y connector.
Distributor lead goes into one of the 2 connectors and fuel pump goes into the other.

Yep. I've got Douglas connectors.
However, it's good to know where all the things go.
I guess I'll start looking for or make my own little Douglas Y connector and lead.

Did you know that if you took the Douglas cap and put it on the Packard you can still twist lock them!
Packard acts like the plastic insert in the Douglas connector.
