Hello Crew,
I hope all is good with everybody here on the forum. I have been quite busy with work as of late and figured I better post before I fall into the "where are they now club ?". I took the rig out to the Uwharrie trails last weekend and it was a great time. There is nothing like pulling into a 4WD rally and having folks with $30-40K outfitted Jeep Rubicons and Wranglers run over to greet your old army truck. What is even more fun is their wives and girlfriends asking if "they can get a truck like this..." and wanting their picture taken with my truck. OD envy....
Here are some pics. There was a fall festival in Mt. Gilead a few weeks back where I and a M274 represented the OD at the car show. The other picture is from last weekend in the woods. I hope everybody has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Re: Fall in the Uwharries
Its been said before and its bizarrely true. M37s are chick magnets! Women who would probably scurry across the street if I was coming down the sidewalk will actually come up and ask for a ride if I'm driving my M37.
And even more bizarre, is that if I'm driving my carryall? No effect. I'm still a big scary guy when driving my carryall.
Go figure!
P.S. Merry Christmas!!

Different here. In the M38, I can't beat 'em all off with a stick. M37 rarely garners a nod. Unless I am driving on the 'wrong side of the tracks'. Then all the old black veterans stop me to reminisce about driving and working on the trucks.
"It may be ugly, but at least it is slow!"
Re: Fall in the Uwharries
was out and about yesterday in my own M37, fun to have so many folks, mostly guys, give a thumb's up, or even stop in the middle of a turn in an intersection, or at a stop light, and make an admiring comment. Especially older guys, who had some experience with them in the military . Got my stencil's from Rick Larsen, going to put them on the truck this weekend. Pretty well done then. All is well....

I wonder if its the stars and things? I bought my M37 and its all military looking. The carryall is just this old hulking dull green thing. (I'm workin' on it.)

Hi David,
I hope that all is well, the picture looking down the gravel road just looks so inviting and there is no snow.
I hope that you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Regards,
Bert

Hey Jim,
I know what you mean! My M37 has fought me from Day One back on 2004 but I never gave up, knowing that one day (finally-2014) it would be roadworthy and hence, the payoff and satisfaction of actually driving it!
Keep at it and you'll get there with your Carryall!
Gary

Re: Fall in the Uwharries
One of the things that's driving me batty is that the M37 needs steering work and has been waiting in line for the garage since late summer. The Carryall project keeps expanding! I should rename it to "Pandora's wild ride". The goal is to at least get it back on the road before Christmas. I've been 24-7 on the thing for months.
It all started with a little misfire..
The good news is, I just -might- make it. Maybe..
