What manuals do I need to get for my 51' M37 and is there anywhere online to download them free?

The two I have are;

"Organizational and operational maintenance"
"Powertrain Body and Frame"

I do not know the TM #'s for these off the top of my head sorry.

There are a few others that are helpful. Others here can chime in on those.

I will tell you that I use the Organizational and operational maintenance manual 95% of the time for my needs.

TM 9-2320-212-10 Operators Manual, TM 9-2320-212-20 Organizational Maintenance Manual, TM 9-2320-212-20P Organizational Maintenance and Repair Parts and Special Tools. I found these useful for basic repairs and maintenance. Anything else and you will need the other manuals. Military-media.com have them available on cd.

This site has a Engine & Clutch manual and a ton of other stuff for downloading, the M37 manual is listed under military publications, 1945-1960, TM 9-1840 A at:

Correction, I first posted the manual as the Power Train manual but found that not listed but Eng & Clutch were listed as item 255, Military Pubs.

WOW what an interesting site the Military Heritage Collection is. I had no idea that there is a web site like this. There are hundreds of manuals to browse. I can see I will be spending some of my free time there.

Honestly, I think that your best bet when it comes to manuals is to get the CD rom from Military Media that has almost every TM for the M37 on it in PDF form... All for 19.95... You can print out the pages that you need for when you are working on the truck, and you can follow the cross references from one manual to the next...

I also have bound (paper) copies of several of the manuals since nothing is better than flipping pages while relaxing in the library...

My first three and the ones that I still look at most often are:
Org Maintenance
Power Train Body and Frame
Parts

I've also found having the Engine and Clutch manual to be most helpful...

My bound copies came from multiple dealers over a period of years, but you can get them all by going to Portrayal Press...

Only problem buying the bound paper copies is the cost. Might be better to go with the CD for 20 bucks than do like I did and drop over $100.00 for two books, the one which is all full of greasy fingerprints now.

I also have the CD. You can print out what ever section you need from it. That would be my first choice. I have also bought a few of the manuals like TM9 8030 which is the general all around care and maintinance manual a great book. If you want a paper copy of some of the manuals Portraylal Press does a really good job. Sometimes you can find them on ebay. I got the body and frame one that way. Also Vnitage Power Wagons has them. Lastly Power Wagon Asvertiser has a really good civilian brake and driveline book the section on brakes is worth it alone. Power Wagons and M37 use the same brakes and allot of the same driveline components.
