During the Vietnam war did the Army ---sometimes-- paint the tops or top portion of the Jerry cans with the color of what's inside, like yellow for diesel , red for gas, etc? I cant find any pictures. Thank you

In 1983 I know the Army painted the tops of the jerry cans flat red for mogas and a flat medium blue for diesel.

Not exactly Vietnam, but as close as I can get.

We do the same now also. We paint yellow for diesel though. I want to be sure before I paint the can top on my M416 that its correct for the period.

Where was your avatar picture taken? Down range Carson or Pinion Canyon? Not that I've ever been to either, nor NTC. 8) 8)
