trailering it home from the tranny shop
i have a tank half full of bad gas
going to siphon it out and dump some heat or stabil in there
pull the 318s carter carb and clean/rebuild (it floods badly)
and maybe hear it run for the first time

i bought a new chinese carb
no instructions of course
and i dont know jack dookie about carbs.
plus i have no idea which ones i have out of the seemingly thousands of slight variations
so even though i cant afford it.
i am hiring a carb shop to fix my problem
i am going to hand them both carbs and say make one of em work
and in an absolute worst case scenario
i will once again rent a trailer and haul this 7200 pound behemoth to the carb place
but getting it on and off a trailer
by myself
with only a come-along is an all day sucker
if i ever get this truck running
THEN i will clean out the gastank

Hi Billy,

Be careful with AAA towing. I've done that trick a few times in the past and it always depends on the tow truck driver. Technically they are not supposed to tow a vehicle that doesn't have current registration and plates. Now if the driver is cool he'll let you slide and tow it. But if he's a dick he'll refuse to tow it. Just sayin'...............

bob

been fairly busy getting things sorted out
old vehicles HATE not being used regular
all sorts of weird crap pops up
the willys was the same way
use it all the time and it works like a top
ignore it for a few months and get ready to get yer hands dirty
doesnt help that is has been between -10f and +16f lately
no garage

BTW
i did use a 3 inch wide roll of gorilla tape and sealed the 1 inch gaps around the windshield
i dont care if it aint correct
something had to be done right now
sometime when i am feeling flush i will buy the correct seals and stuff
but its water/air tight right now
i hated the idea of water pouring down the dashboard straight into my transfer case/transmission

on my truck
part A has a hole drilled in it to accept a padlock
the backdoors can be locked from the inside
same with the passenger
then a padlock for the tiremount/driver door
the two exterior storage compartments already have tabs for locks welded on.
