GKN rims

Post by ZGjethro »

I was going through the swap meet ads and saw these rims for sale. http://www.g741.org/PHPBB/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7423. Was there any issues with these rims on trucks running stock brakes? Or any issues period? Most of the drop center rims I see are 16.5" or larger, and I didn't think a 16" tubeless rim worked on the M37

All I know to tell you is that they are the standard replacement rim for an M101A1 trailer and it has the same hub and brake drum as the M37. I originally didn't think these would take the 9.00 tire because I believe the same manufacturer made a bunch of 1 piece rims that are Budd bolt pattern for aviation ordnance trailers but on those trailers the rim is more narrow and use the 7.50 x 16 tire. However I looked the nsn on the box in the picture for the ad and then searched it in my 101 manual pdf file and it comes up as the correct rim for the M101A1 and the 9.00 x 16 tire. According to haystacks the govt pays 467.00 a piece for them. Not an endorsement... just a little curious myself when I saw them.

Thanks for the replies guys. The fellow selling the rims got back to me one time, but when I asked if I could buy one rim first to see if it fit ok he stopped replying to my emails. I am interested to hear about these rims. A few years ago I was looking to do a disc brake conversion, and I think I heard these rims would not work with that setup. I'd like to know how they fit on stock brakes.

I bought a set for the disk brake conversion I'm doing.
I don't think he has any left.

I just heard back from the seller. He was not ignoring me, he was on his honeymoon. The rims have sold out. I will have to jump on the next sale of these instead of asking questions.

Milstencil, I am still interested in hearing/seeing how they work for you
