NOS Rim

I received a NOS Budd rim with the locking bead in a trade. I have never seen one and just wondered how rare of a find it is. It is not out of the box pristine but has some wear/dings from being handled. Still has new paint and yellow letting on it.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Mark,

I've seen NOS rims only a few times.........I've seen NOS rings many times. Can't give you a value for it, as with most things NOS these days........it's worth what someone will pay for it. There's lots of folks on here that have been doing the Military Vehicle thing way longer than me, so hopefully they'll chime in to give you some more info. I think it's always pretty cool to see NOS stuff......post a pic or two if you can.

regards,
bob

I think I paid 100 each for combat rims, used but like new. If that helps.

Mark,

I was just checking out the VPW catalog and they list NOS Budd Rims for $125 and NOS Rings for $25. I guess that's what your rim is worth.

regards,
bob

I think the one in VPW is a 6 hole one. I would like to find some "new" ones. I saw the 17" wheels they have, wish I knew who made them for 'em.

It sounds like Topellis is talking about a combat rim, since he mentioned locking bead

Totally missed the "locking bead" reference.

I realize it has been some time since my original post but I've been busy. Bob thanks for the info. That gives me something to go by. I guess somehow my description may have been misleading. It is a standard Budd 5 lug rim that would be found on any stock m37. I used the term locking bead referring to the ring that locks to the rim and supports the opposite bead. I am not a rim specialist as to the exact nomenclature. I have some pics bit have yet to relearn how to upload them. There is handling wear but beneath the paint that has scratched off it looks like it is plated or something. Working a deal with a possible buyer but thought some may want to see how it is marked.

when you hit reply and type out a message, underneath the text box is a tab for "upload attachment" which works just like attaching a photo to an email

Edit the photo with Microsoft paint if you are on PC. Under the "stretch/scale" button there's an option to shrink it. Probably about 25% will be good
