OT: PW near my home

I know these are terrible pics but they were the best I could do at that moment, but this is a Power Wagon about a mile from my house. It's hidden pretty well but has been sitting for a while.
The front looks like a fifties PW, but the brush made it impossible to get a clear photo. It does have a spotlight.
Any ideas what this might be?

Sorry - for a minute there I was focused on a truck parked in the trees thinking as I scrolled, "yeah baby" but then remembered you were asking about the truck!!!

I grew up in an era and area where the FFPW was a common sight at the local feed store. I never saw one with a bed like that, though. I wonder if it isn't an ex-militay WC something-or-other?

I gotta get more photos. I am trying to figure out who's it is as no one lives there now.

Looks like an old Civvy PW, or a Studebaker or GMC or some other pickup, with a non-stock bed. Although I don't think the bed is military. It isn't a WC bed and doesn't quite look like a trailer or deuce bed.

Maybe it is an International M-2-4 with a IH cab or a Stude cab. They kind of look like that bed area. The fetured some in MVPA mag this last issue.

You gotta get out there and get some better pics, John. A shot or two of the front end would go a long way in identifying the beast, too. We really need the info. Besides, it will give you an excuse to avoid that "honey do" list for a while longer. You can say "But, Dear! I've got this important project I need to do some research for!"

LOL!
Yeah, I gotta go back out there. It's only about a mile down the road.
Maybe this afternoon I can manage it. I think part of my procrastination is my fear that I can get it for a song and then have to have it towed 45 minutes away to my buddy's house for storage. I can't bring it to my house due to several issues....
I have the fever bad, I *really* do want a civilian PW or even a WC.....

Here's a photo I took today. There are too many trees on the front end of the truck for me to get a good photo.
It's definitely a PW, you can see the hood letters on the right side.
I wanted to try to contact the owner but there is a brand new HUGE "no tresspassing" sign out front now. There had been two, old, smaller ones before. So I guess this one will just sit there.

John,
Dont give up so easy. If you dont want to knock on the door how about doing a google search of the address. Maybe you can get a name.If not the land records at your town hall should have a name. A well written letter might just do the trick. If you get lucky maybe the wife will get it and she may get on the owners case to get it out of the yard
The truck looks nice so what do you have to loose.
Good luck

Yup! Definately a civvy Power Wagon. Like Gerry says...don't be so quick to give up on it. Ask around the local coffee shop/McDonalds/diner, or whatever, and you may find out who owns the property. (Don't mention the truck, though!) Once you know who the owner is, a tactful query may lead to an equitable deal. If not, urge your wife to strike up an acquaintance with
his wife. Then, she can drop subtle hints to her and she may drop some
less than subtle hints to the owner about getting rid of it. Once that happens, you can offer to "take it off his hands" and resolve his "problem."
Sneaky? Yes.
Will it work? Maybe.
Has this ploy worked in the past? Did for me, once!

We'll have to see. I never took photos of the "house". Let's just say it reminds me of the movie "Deliverance".
Not a safe looking place. I'll do some checking though. I'd hate for it to just sit there and rot.
I Would Check It Out

Go for it John,
You might regret it, if you don't?

Well....as long as you don't have to "squeal like a pig!"
Maybe some banjo lessons would help smooth the way??
