Drove this Hot Rod 3.5 hrs to Ocean City Md. car show. As you can see by the speedometer "which is pretty accurate", she cruised pretty good down and back without a hitch. Truck amazes me how popular it is when it shows up somewhere

Nice looking truck! Those gauges also tell me it is running WAY too cold and you are going to have condensation issues in the oil, your oil pressure is too high and you are risking blowing out a filter on the road and you charging system is a tad high also. I know, I know, but after 50 years of building motors I always scan gauges and pick up on things.  Are you running a cooler on the transfer case? I have heard they do not like to go that fast without extra cooling.

Before you go and diagnose all my problems, think about what the truck was doing. A short burst to 92 MPH with 4.56 gears will in turn the oil pump, water pump, and alternator higher then the norm. Burst pressure on Mobile1 filter is 600psi, so don't think that will be an issue. My roadrace cars regularly do way worse to those three gauges with no ill affects, but thanks for your concern.

Just showing that with the right setup, these old beasts can be run up to high speeds and still drive nice. Was kind of funny passing a C7 corvette in the fast lane with the old dog.

Handsome truck for sure. Big tires. Me,in my stock truck, my cruse is about 40 mph, rarely faster. My transfer case will get up to about 185 degrees eventually. I often use a digital temp gun on my truck's moving parts to check what the temps are. And you are right, these old vintage trucks certainly do attract all sorts of attention wherever we go. Especially when I mount my machine gun.

Been way out in Nebraska for almost three weeks, and can't wait to get home. My truck is at our beach cottage near Charleston now, and I just love driving it downtown. Have a great Memorial Day, especially for our Vets.

all the best, NAM VET

Easy there! I was only trying to be helpful. You don't think think it will be an issue until the filter lets go at 6,000 RPM and you dump all your oil in seconds under your tires and on your exhaust at that stated 92 MPH! So you would have lost your engine and vehicle. If the oil pressure relief valve is working correctly you should not be going above 60 lbs. regardless of RPM. It is a beautiful vehicle and I have followed the build since day one. Your engineering on all of the mounts is first class. I would really hate to see it fail for something like that. In 35 years of pro racing and 45 years of engine building I have seen my share of blown filters and filter gaskets and the associated damage the goes with it.

Was very surprised you didn't mention the last gauge only having a 1/4 tank of fuel. Look this a public forum, I get it, peoples opinions are encouraged. If your level of experience is true, I would just advise before doing as so many keyboard warriors fail to do, think about what you are typing. Truck doesn't live at 92 MPH, it was a short burst for comic relief. Running gear in truck is out of a 1993, much more able to handle high speeds then the original stuff.

You are not the only experienced wrench on these boards, I'm sure their are tons of guys here with as much or more experience then both of us. I've raced from Daytona to Thunder Hill, run Optima Ultimate Street Car, Hot Rod Magazines torture test Drag Week. Been building engines and cars for 40 years, none of that is applicable here. This is a fun, slow and bumpy M37 board which I really enjoy, just saying sometimes less is more.

When I built big block chryslers (mostly 440) I would alwaye use high pressure oil pumps- they like them. Would hit 80 psi at 4000 rpm, about 65 at 2500. Not a problem.

my 361-3 runs near 80 cold. medium truck engines run high output. the manual says should run 50 to 60 warm at 1500 rpms. running 2800 rpms on the highway with 4.88 gears. lol
