BLOCK HEATER

Post by milstencil »

I'm interested in a freeze plug block heater for the 230 engine.
It was -15 this morning and a little hard starting the
"old girl" to plow the driveway.
Anyone on here use one? If so, do you remember the
part number for it?
Thanks,
Rick

I put one on the Katz inline coolant heater on my M37 plow truck years ago. I just put a T at the coolant block drain and then T'd off the top of the block where the heater plug is. I have ball valves from McMaster Carr on either side of the block so I can isolate it the heater hose springs a leak.
Have it on a timer to warm up about 2 hours before I plow. Warms up the block nicely. Its a bit of a tight fit in the corner with the steering and stuff and if you don't get it just right the heater or its hose tends to rub on the gas pedal rod that goes over the tranny.

So some of us can't move to far south to rid of the snow ... or we wish.. but here is a product that I use in freezing temps... https://www.wolverineheater.com/category-s/1477.htm .. I have one on the tranny oil pan and one on the engine oil pan, they work very well and the two I have use less electrics then one block heater. But in my temps I still use the block heater too.
