Horn Question

Did they make a horn with the steel shell connectors? All the ones I see have the rubber connectors. My VWoM harness has steel connectors.
I have a working horn, does anyone have an adaptor to hook the steel harness to the rubber?

Chris, you can make up your own Packard to Douglas connector from parts, or I see that the latest Vintage Power Wagon catalog has them pre-made.
Thanks again for meeting me on Sunday to pick up those parts. I'll be back to tour the museum when it's open.

Yes they did, all of the early M37s made before the B1 series had Douglas (steel shell) connectors on the horns.

Mine does the same thing, sounds kind of lame. Would like to put some nice M35 air horns on it but, adding an air source would be out of the question.

How hard is it to find a steel shell horn?

Chris,
I've seen the early horns around at meets and on eBay. But like most M37 parts these days it does seem everything is getting harder to find. The horn you're looking for was also used on the M38 jeeps (but not the M38A1), so if you're searching eBay you might want to search there also. Now if you're stickler for detail you need to find an Auto-Lite horn for your M37. The Jeeps used a different brand, but look and function identical.

bob

I just looked for and found my extra one but it is missing one mounting bolt, looks like it broke when some ham handed fool

torqued to much when removing it, not me. If you like I will try to repair it then if successful I will contact you and if you are interested in it we can deal.
