I would not know as mine has no muffler since I bought it.
Chris's truck is the only other one I have ridden in. It has a Cherry Bomb muffler so that does not count ether.

My exhaust is quiet but the gear noise of either or both the trans and transfer case sure drowns out the sound of the super swampers!

Mine's got new exhaust but makes that sort of pleasant rumbling. The tires probably are making some noise, and when I swap the rears to superlugs, it will be louder.

You've done yourself proud on your truck, John! The whine is normal and you learn to live with it-keeps me from over-revving. Ear plugs are a welcome option too.

I think they are all noisy, mine is better since I fitted free wheeling hubs and you can now just hear a passenger, Nice looking truck it`s nice to see one in blue, I think mine is the only blue one over here atleast I have never seen another one.

Refit,
your truck looks great, really like the blue. Mine is loud and whiney too, I think it's normal. It also has a leak or 2.

First off have you gotten the smile off your face yet from those first drives?
Second yes most if not all MVs are loud and conversation is not to be had at 45 mph with out shouting. The only thing you could do is put some sandbags on the floors. (Okay maybe a foam pad and rubber mats but sandbags would be more authentic) That will help reduce the sound some what. Good job on the truck!

locking hubs reduces it about 30%. the M37s are quiet compared to the WCs and PWs. a quiet muffler helps too. cab insulation proabable makes the biggest difference next to locking hubs. with a fresh engine should be able to safely go 55 with stock 36 inch tires. old engine 50. as your ears start failing its gets quieter all the time.
