M37 Tool Kit and Warning Flare Kit

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any info on what tools came in the vehicular tool kit and what was in the Warning Flare Kit? I've found tons on info online regarding the tool kits for the WC Dodges and all the Jeeps, but have only found info for the M37 kit in TM9-840....and what's there is a little sketchy compared to the WCs and Jeeps. The TM says the tool bag and Flare Kit were stored under the passenger seat and the tools in the tool bag consisted of:

Pliers
Screwdrivers
Adjustable Wrench
Plug Wrench
Tire Pressure Gage (I wonder who made the spelling of Gauge more complicated by throwing in that "u"?)
Wheel Nut Wrench

That's as detailed as they get. The WC and Jeep guys list part numbers, physical descriptions, alternate companies that made the tools, those companies part numbers....and all I get is "pliers".

And I have no idea what was in the Flare Kit or what it even looks like. Any help with these would be appreciated!

thanks,
bob

Oh....PS.....what the heck is a "Plug Wrench"??? The pic in the TM looks like a piece of 1/2" square stock a couple of inches long.

You use the plug wrench with the adjustable wrench to remove fill and drain plugs on the transmission, diffs, etc.

Thanks Blackops!

So it's like the square drive on a ratchet or breaker bar. Ooops....I forgot.....this was before they invented those things!!

Thanks for the help!

Here it is, go to p14-17

It shows were the above items were stowed. Again, the B1 may have been different.

When my unit turned in our trucks I was able to get one of the correct issue jacks.

These are some of the issue tools I display with my truck.

I am missing the lug wrench and handle as well as the 2 1/2" X 1/2" plug wrench.
