The trip that wasn't...

Yesterday I decided I was going to try and decompress & unwind after Mom's funeral Thursday. With a decent snow falling I thought I would run the M37 down to the feed store. My drivers window was open slightly. I went to roll it up and the crank handle broke off in my hand, this I believe is the real weak link on these trucks  .
I got some vise grips and rolled the window up. I pulled out of the drive and as I got to the stop sign at the end of the street, the brake pedal went to the floor  Luckily the intersection was clear and was not going fast. I rolled to a stop right at the stop sign. I turned around and went home, and so went my 500' trip. I suspect a wheel cylinder or the MC. I could not see any leaks at the lines. I will investigate when it warms up

David, I have an extra window crank handle around here (I even know where it is!) if you need one. Let me know and I can put it in the mail.

Sorry your trip was cancelled, but these trucks seem to be a two part recreation; work on 'em or drive 'em. The gamble is that you often don't get to choose which one.

I hope things are getting better for you. We were sorry to hear of the passing of your mother.

Storm

Thanks Storm. I appreciate the offer on the handle.
I do have an extra handle. I noticed that my spare is nearly twice as thick as the one that broke, they must have gone with different vendors along the way I imagine?

My condolences about your Mom. Just had a funeral for my Mom too on January 19, 2013.

David,

Sorry for your loss. And for the truck not working. Of course you know why it doesn't want to run....it's winter and it's cold and the truck doesn't want to be in the cold. :)

David, sorry for your loss

I broke the winder handle on my passenger door on perhaps the hottest week in the UK... window jammed closed!

All fixed now with an NOS part from Vietnam
