Has anyone here bought anything from govliquidation.com? And what were your thoughts?

I've bid on several trucks and trailers without success. I have bid and won field gear. Picked it up at the supply center, no problems as long as you have all your paper work for the items you are picking up and the auto and insurance registration and drivers license to get on the base. I watch alot of items at various locations to get a feel for demand and price. The more remote locations tend to unload stuff for cheap. I watched a M35A2 in running condition go for $1500 yesterday. The only thing I'll add is if your going to bid on vehicles or trailers make sure you get that "EUC" paperwork done first, they cannot release the property to you if don't have it and it takes a little bit to get it approved.

End of Use Certificate. It's the paper work for final release from the government.

It's the End Use Certificate. This paperwork tells the government what you plan to do with the item you purchased. If you tell them "I'm gonna start up my own militia and overthrow the government," they will not release it.

Before they do release it, they will do a thorough background check on you to make sure you're not a terrorist or any of a number of other reasons to be classified as an "undesirable recipient of surplus equipment."

If you've been through this before, the government already has that information on file and the process will (or should) go a little faster. The same applies if you've ever held a security clearance.

If you hold a SECRET military security clearance, you have been subjected to a NAC (national agency check), a BI (background investigation) and had your fingerprints taken at the minimum. I've heard rumors that DNA samples are also being taken for security clearances now, but I can't swear to that.

If you hold a TOP SECRET clearance (as I do), you will have been subjected to an EBI (extended background investigation) in addition to the NAC and basic BI.

The NAC is usually a one-time thing (or used to be), but the BI and EBI must be updated periodically.

This is why having a security clearance can help. They already know almost everything about you, your friends, your family, and any associations you may belong to.

I doubt if you can apply for an EUC in advance. You would have to know all the information about the item (make, model, serial number, etc.) in advance and be absolutely certain that you would be the winning bidder if it was an auction item.

gov't liquidation auctions can be easy and they can be difficult. The key is to be patient. Best place to learn about them is SteelSoldiers.com . Lots of folks there get their Deuces from GL/DRMO.

What Ken says is true. You'll also find that most of the Steel Soldiers members feel that GL is a big ripoff. They're not happy with their procedures at all. There is a ton of postings about GL on the site, most of which are negative.

I'm not saying "don't buy from them." For the time being, they are the sole source for a lot of good military surplus stuff. Just be careful and you should be okay.

Rumor has it that when the contract expires for GL, that GSA may be taking over all the sales, this from a GSA sales guy I know. When it is to happen I don't know but I can say DRMS / DRMO is as unhappy with GL as we are.

I have purchased 4 - 5 ton trucks and a large trailer.
The EUC paper work is aggrivating.
And usually the GovLiq people on site can be very helpful or a lazy bunch of SOB's.
Be aware of the 10% buyers fee, and sales tax.
If your really in the game, watch the auctions on a regular basis to get a feel for what things are going for.
Sometimes they are a bargin, sometimes you can buy privately cheaper.

I bought a M-819 wrecker for $9,000 in ex condition, when I watched many of the M-816's go for $16,000 + on Gov Liq.
