Maybe the rebuild kit's for more than one mod of crab?

Don't you love it when you find these "bonus" parts! It doesn't look familiar, and I just rebuilt mine 2 months ago. On a side note, when I tore mine apart there was a small copper rivet in the accelerator pump housing. I have no idea how it got in there, or why it never affected the function of the carb!

Looks like it goes in the needle. the float presses on the pin..... just my opinion

Gerry if you take out the needle valve, some of the needles have a hole in the back side. The spring goes in with the pin sticking out the back. Thats what it looks like to me. At least if thats what it is you don't need to take your carb apart.

I think Rick pretty much nailed it.

The parts pictured are way too large to be from the spring and pin type needle assy.
I've built many of these carbs, don't recognize these items as being from an ETW1.

Thanks all. The rebuild kit came with a new float needle so if thats the case i dont need anyways.
Charles I was hoping you would give your advice. I figured you have seen a few of these.
Thanks again all,

Rick,
You nailed it on the head. The old needle had the hole and the parts fit perfect. Checked new one and it was solid no hole. Now I can relax and not worry

Greetings Folks,This is my first posting on what has been a very interesting and informing site .I decided to get out of the guest status and jump in.The older carb kits came with the spring loaded needle valve you removed as replacements for the original setup. The newer kits have done away with those parts in favor of the simpler solid needle.THe theory for the spring loaded setup was that during rough travel the spring would help to keep the needle in the seat when fuel wasn't actually needed, to avoid a flood condition.I've rebuilt ,and then used off road, carbs on trucks with both setups. It didn't seem to make a difference in the real world, not in my experience at least.I wouldn't relegate the old parts to the trash in any case unless they were actually worn. The way things are going, items are only getting scarcer.

It looked bigger in relation to the dime to me. The Japanese kits used to have that type set up, but they have been gone now for a few years.
