Got a great deal on a 11" Logan lathe! 200 dollars with some tooling and a few different chucks/dog plates. Not a bad deal. Anyone happen to have any old tooling sitting around gathering dust? Now to figure out how to get it out of the pickup :D

I see a beer moving party in the making.

A "beer moving party " is strong friends and lots of beer.

"Wow" is right! That was some score. I strongly recommend installing a guard or two. Those exposed gears can be lethal!

ya there would have originally been a guard over the threading gears. Im going to try to find the right one first and if that doesnt work ill just make one.

It does doesnt it :D didnt notice that. Got a new flat belt on order as well as a new modern style quick change tool post. Still trying to figure out how to get it out of the truck, that will be interesting to say the least. It is one heavy piece of old iron! Hope to have it up and running within a week or so.

The answer to the unloading problem has yet to be figured out. Dont have anything tall enough to lift it out of the truck. Were gonna try for monday to get it out and hopefully get it out of the weather. I coated the bare metal with fluid film so it is fine to be outside for a while.

Is there a tree near your garage or shop you can drive under? Use a come-a-long, or a block and tackle and lift it up, drive your truck out from under it and lower it onto the ground. Set it on planks, and inch it to your garage or shop with levers, or the come-a-long.
Or, is there a lumberyard nearby with a boom truck? Maybe if they have a delivery nearby they would swing by and snatch it out of your truck and set it right in your garage.

No trees around unfortunately and the lumber trucks cant come up the street because they sink into the pavement. Its to tore up for that. I think ill just have to use muscle power to get it out. It looks like the total weight is around 500lbs. I think 4-5 people ought to be able to get it out. Were gonna give it a shot tomorrow.
