Sort of figured that; you'll have to understand you are asking for a very hot, rare item that will easily bring that price from an interested buyer. We have a couple if you have interest.

That is a going figure these days. Guys wanting to display their trucks like them and pay those prices. If you are driving the truck a lot then I would not even want to consider paying that kind of money just to make getting in and out of my truck that much work.

have seen ones in the last 6 mos. sell on ebay for around 300 just didnt think they went up that much in just a short time. i think i will keep mine easy to get into, since i drive it and the tire in the back. thanks for input! can always rely on that on this great informative site!!

Argeed, that is the exact reason most choose to install the early spare bracket in the bed. It's just a lot of trouble to deal with on a daily driver, I took it off our shop truck years ago. This is basically a purist only collector item anymore.

Was it complete though? I doubt it included all the pieces mine does (if so, lucky snag)... however I might be willing to work with you a little depending on what you consider a fair price; if you don't want to post here, feel free to PM/Email me.

In my M43 I find it easier to just go in and out the passenger door.

It's a nice look but a pain to maneuver in and out of-get a first-series bracket for $75 and save yourself....

It's not that they have gone up that much in a short time. These have been rare and costly for years if you get a good 1 that is a complete kit. All I can say about the ebay sale is who knows, maybe the seller was not aware of what he had, likely didn't know about the hot item, high value situation as I 'm sure he would have rather gotten $500 (which he could have gotten easily) out of it than $300. It may have just been a bracket only??

I think the last one we sold went for $600, and the buyer was thrilled to get it. It was in exceptionally good condition.

A fast buck, I don't see that happening. I'm like you in wishing everything could be reproduced easily and at a reasonable cost; however that is not the case with many items. The same is true with this assembly. To be able to produce an exact copy of all the pieces that make up this total assembly would be quite expensive just for the tooling alone; then comes the actual manufacture and assembly of all the pieces. Don't forget the question of how many would have to be reproduced to even get a manufacturer interested. That number would have to be many in order to get the per kit price into the reasonable range. For example; (not realistic) But let's just say there were enough produced that they could be sold profitably at a cost of $100 each. Now just imagine how many would have to be sold before the manufacturer would ever see a dime of profit. Truthfully, there probably would never be that many sold. Like has already been made clear; while it is a hot item among those who do want them, that number is relatively small simply because show quality purist are the only folks in search of these in any numbers. Manufacturer's who do such reproduction components like to do rare items that many truck owners have need of; it's the only way they can ever hope to see a profit.

Let me add a little. If you indeed use the truck leave it off. I have one on mine and if it wasn't for me changing out the cab tub this summer it would already be in the bed laying on floor. I will be keeping it though for resale value if I ever sell the B1, along with the soft top frame. I have been using the passenger side for two years now and thats OK, but not when you have a passenger. As far as Fabbing one up, sure I personally could do it IF I needed one, otherwise I would never be able to charge my labor and make someone feel they weren't ripped off. I'll add one more thing; That is the danger factor, by which I mean if you didn't get it latched good and make a hard right turn the tire swings out. It happened to me once with no ill effects, but there was no other traffic.
