Post by nutsfor59 »

hi,can anyone out there tell me where the wire marked #12 coming off the regulator plug is supposed to end up ??,i converted to the 100 amp system from the standard 25 amp system, and would like to know the correct destinations for the wires leaving the regulator and going into the dash, still only charging in the yellow area as well, and lastly are the solid state regulators adjustable ????,thanks !!

The voltage regulator plug that goes to battery and truck wiring is wired:

The "B" Pin is spliced to the truck's # 10 wire.
The "A: Pin is connected to the Battery +24 V cable (usually it is easier to make this connection at the starter end of the battery + 24 V cable.)
The "C" Pin connects to a chassis ground.
The "F" Pin connects to the ignition switch. (Use either the # 12 wire that feeds the coil or any other ignition switch wire that is hot only when the switch is on.)

The D & E Pins are not used with a single alternator.

Don't confuse pin letters with the oddly assigned letters and numbers on the wires that came with the plug.

hi,thanks for the helpfull info !!,what would the consequences be of not having the #12 wire hooked up that comes off the voltage regulator harness, and you suggested hooks into the #12 wire to the distributor ??? right now the #12 wire out of the regulator harness is not hooked up,thanks p.s also looking for a place that sells replacement/service parts for the 100 amp generators and regulators at reasonable and fair prices, thanks again !!

The # 12 connection closes the circuit breaker in the regulator. If you do not power #12 the alternator does not put out.

When you place reasonable in the equation I can't think of any.

Hey guys, old post I know. I've searched every site and Google for the four prong cannon plug that goes into the rear (closest to the firewall) of the generator regulator on my M37. Does anyone know the part number or where I could get just the cannon plug itself? Thanks

Vintage wiring of Maine can sell you a 4 wire regulator harness VPW also has them in the electrical section of the catalog and I bet Midwest military has some if you call John. Not sure where you would get just the plug alone

G741 electrical harness multipin connectors are Bendix connectors, not MS or Cannon.
