I bought 2 of these which were for sale in a guy's front yard, $25/both. I'm going to install one thru the insulated ceiling and the other on the end of my garage where I have a 36" direct drive exhaust fan. It has never had a proper weather cover on the outside, just an light weight aluminum hood.

These things have to be expensive, they aren't big box home store grade, the lower edge of each louver is weather stripped and it's pivot shaft has nylon? bearing bushings at each end.

Looks like an industrial ventilation outlet. If you got 2 of them for $25, you "stole" them. Even if you had paid $25 each, you would still have gotten a good deal. They should be just the thing for what you have in mind.

Carter, You are always in the right place, you are a very LUCKY guy. We have these on either end of the barn, like David said, 400 clams a piece is the norm, nice catch for your shop!

Thanks for the comments guys, it was a good deal but I could have had them both for $20 but after the seller told me to make an offer by saying "any amount, like coins or dollars" I said I'll take one to which his young son of about 10 yrs old commented "you should buy them both, never get another chance like this" I replied "how about $20 for both" and the seller said "OK, deal". I handed him the money and then gave the boy a $5 saying "Here kid, this is for you, you are going to make a great salesman some day, keep it up.

Lifer, they are labled "Control Damper and I suspect they would have been used to control inside ventilation to close off certain areas when not needed. I am going to install one in the end of the building at the exhaust fan and one in the ceiling to vent the work area so I can close it when I don't need the ventilation and am heating the space.

David, I wondered what they cost new, I had priced homeowner grade ones at $150 but never liked the quality offered for the price.
