Correct OD paint number of M37B1

Post by rc51racer »

I called a local paint supply place and tried asking for 24087, they couldn't find the number in an of their sources.

Does anyone have a PPG/DuPont/Other number or a better way of me getting the correct OD color short of having them doing a color match?

The paint is going on an M37B1.

You didn't mention what branch of service your truck is going to represent. The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps all used these trucks and all used different shades of OD. Sometimes, a single truck could have several shades of OD on it. This pretty much makes it impossible to determine what the "Correct" number might be.

I think he's looking for the manufacturers part number for 24087 semi-gloss OD. Circa 1957-1972

Joe,
If you want to buy locally a color match from your local auto paint supplier is going to be your only choice. The 24087 from AJ Gillispie is great stuff but you run into the problem I had in the fact that the Enviro weenie Hazmat shipping charges  to Ohio will run as much as the paint unless you make other arrangements like driving to AJP in PA to pick up( which will cost as much). That is why I ended up having my Krylon rep match the paint. Mine is a little more brown hue and glossy but I am happy with it. Your are welcome to come see my rig. If you like the color I can hook you up with the Krylon. :)

David,

I didn't ask the question....Only tried to clarify...and I'm painting my truck 3 color NATO camo and I picked my paint up at the national convention to save the shipping charges since I was going there anyway... :)
