Trailer plug adapter help

Has anyone ever tried to make an adapter to run between an M series receptacle and a four flat pin trailer plug? I would like to make a trailer to haul canoes and gear and run it off my truck. The wiring harness for the trailer would be homemade so that is why I am leaning to the four pin plug. Is one available pre-made or am I barking up the wrong tree? Whatever the answer is, it would have be simple. I am a mediocre mechanic but an electrician I am not.

yes I have

I have made an adapter but I also converted my M37 from 24V to 12V

Easy task. I assume you are putting 24 volt lamps in your trailer?

I made this up several years ago.

You can just splice behind the trailer plug receptacle or you can use and old M series cut short trailer harness or NOS plug and wire a 4 pin SAE plug to it and just carry the short adapter in your tool box.
