Fording depth without the kit?

Okay, anybody know what the rated fording depth is without the air and exhaust stacks?

I dont know for sure, but from experience.. If water gets above the air intake, i have always been shit out of luck. I us my headlites as a gauge.. It works sometimes.. Good luck.

From the pictures I've seen - the bottom of the Jerry can holder is the max. But I would go with the published limit from the service manual to be on the safe side.

I'm 6' 10", which comes up to 82", so I'm still shorter than the top of the snorkel. That means that I or ANY person driving in the seated position would drown if fording at max depth. That video was shot at the Rainbow Springs, just a few miles from me. Great place to visit, swim and canoe. They would never let you do that now, cant even have a gas powered boat at the head water. (or pee in the river)

42" is actually a little deep. 42" was OK in the early trucks with the enclosed air filters but on the later trucks the fan will fill the air filter up with water in about 30" of water.
The TM actually gives pretty thorough instructions on fording though.
