When restoring, is it common practice to remove and replace all the nuts and bolts - Obviously the worn ones have to go, but just curious. If yes, does anyone have a list of all the sizes and Qtys?

Good thought. I found one of the most aggravating things during my resto was to go to assemble something and be "jones'n" for hardware. Seems I was always short something. I wish I would have kept a list You will be able to match up the sizes with no problem from Fastenal. However if you want the original hex head Dodge design you will be hard pressed to find them at reasonable cost. Try to salvage what you can.

I guess that depends on how deep of a restoration you want. If a full, complete, has to be all original, then save them all, or buy nothing but original. But, as was said you will be lucky to find some of the original, or original looking items, and many of the original nuts and bolts you pull off will be rusted beyond use and will have to be discarded.. Now, as to thread sizes, etc, yes you can match them very easily. In fact any hardware store will have the fine threaded bolts that go in alot of places on these trucks. The square washers can be had easily as well.

Since my truck will never be restored to exacting original status (I'm picky but not that picky), I am not too concerned if a bolt head or washer isn't original.

I've saved what I could but am very willing to upgrade to new bolts and nuts when it's a safety issue.

a lot of the fasteners are odd sizes, lots of 12-24NF and other weirdos so you may have to use someplace like McMaster-Carr. They have it all including square washers

And just a thought, in the motor pool we replaced the nuts and bolts with whatever was available through the local supply system.

Any good hardware store will have these sizes. When I say hardware store, I mean a mom and pop place, or a big name franchise of small places, like Ace hardware. Forget the megastores like Home depot or Lowes, they have only what's hot on the home and garden channel.....

I've found that most of that advice works good for the hex head screws/bolts-rather easy to track down. But, I've had quite a time of it finding some of the fine threaded slotted and phillips screws. Seems all you can find anymore is course thread or the "combo" head screws.
