Rebuild progress all in one thread

I have. Am holding out hope for Michelins. Actually found a set of NEW XMLs out in Ca. Will set me back 1400 bucks though, inluding shipping, which is twice what I really want to spend, so I am mulling it over...

On a side note, for the first time in almost 3 years, the bed is in one piece. It is straight, rust free, and beautiful. I would have taken pictures, but it is already dark here. Will take some tomorrow. Have a bit of paint prep to do, then it gets base/clear. Will finally get to see what my color combo looks like!

All the critical parts are under way! Everything except the tires, which I am in negotiaions with the guy with the new set of XMLs right now, just trying to nail dwn shipping!

Got the cab sanded out tonight, will get some high build primer on it tomrrow, then a final sand out. the bed still needs a bit of work. the tailgate and front panels are both rust free, but dented up pretty badly. They looked like a pretzle when I got them, twisted, bent and mangled, but I managed to get both relatively flat other than the spot near the bottom f the tailgate, and the left of center in the front panel. The metal is stretched, so, that's about as good as they're going to get without a shrinking hammer and dolly, which I don't have. I'll get the final spot fill and sandout on the bed tomorrow, and both can go into base/clear!

Just have to fill and sand the doors, the rest is primed, filled, sanded, and ready for base/clear!

Will you disassemble the bed to paint it fully, or will you use a seam sealer to seal the joints?

That tailgate re-enforcement, did you do that, or was it already there? I am having bed envy, again. My tailgate & bed sides are still untouched.

Ray, I epoxy primed and laid high build on it panel by panel. It will get base/clear fully assembled, so that the bolt heads get painted.

Lifer, Don't worry, the camera will be out when the monster is up and running!

I did the reinforcement. I realize it's not exact per the military spec, but, the bend was the best I could do by hand. It'll get'er done!

Thanks for all the tire leads guys. I ended up getting that set fo new XMLs out in CA. He has a friend with a commercial UPS account, so I'mm getting them for $1200 shipped to my door. 900 for the rubber, 300 for freight.

A whole lotta parts showed up today. Got almost everything I need to finish the drivetrain, just waiting on the EFI ECU and its related bits. It shipped out today as well. Got everything I need to finish the:

Oiling system
Cooling system
Fuel system
Drivetrain
Exhaust system
Electrical system

Basically, all I need is a few miscelaneous odds and ends, some glass, and, all the repop rubber bits from Midwest Military.

Oh, and I also need energy to finish the dang thing, and for it to cool the heck off! It was 95 and almost 100% humidity, can't paint in that weather!!!

You got primer on the body? With the hummity that we've been having same in Ohio as by you all you blasted will rust if you don't have it primed.

yup, body is all in primer, just need to sand it out and base/clear it.
