Arrggg...brakes

Post by refit1701 »

So I'm putting the passenger side rear ones on and I *just* notice there is a rubber gasket or buffer behind the washers, behind the two clips which hold the brakes shoes at the bottom.

Of course, when I went to degrease them for reassembly, they fell apart. I know I shoulda done this four months ago but....oh well.

Can I use gasket compound material to create these or am I stuck again for another week or so while I wait for parts?

Oh, and I just discovered my torque wrench is busted so I can't tell when I get to 100ft-lbs of torque on the bearing nuts. Crap, crap.....

John,
Are those the felt washers that go behind the C clips?
If so call George @ Vermont Commercial 802-864-4762 he has bags of them.
