I'm looking for a long shifter shaft - I think they were standard on the B1 trannys. Not interested in the extension that goes on the short handles.

The M43 ambulance used the longer version - that is where I got mine.

What is the real advantage(othr than being the correct shifter) to the long shifter? My B1 has a short shifter and it is very easy to use. I will admit that when my sons ride with me they have to watch being hit with the shifter when in reverse but I think that would be the case with the long one as well, or maybe not.

(1) I find that the shifter knob is at a more comfortable height
(2) The longer handle gives you more leverage - less wrestling into gear
(3) There is a bigger horizontal movement from 1st/2nd to 3rd/4th to Rev. Just more comfy for me, I guess.

Ok - no luck on finding a long shaft. Anyone got an extra shifter shaft they are willing to let go for a song?

I just found out a little tidbit - supposedly, the long shifter can't be used if you have the NOS defroster duct. I'll repost if I find otherwise.

Gary,
I was going to contact him next.
The guy I bought this truck from gave me a folder full of receipts for parts bought from Midwest Mil. John's web site is GREAT.
